At The Exploration Company, we develop, produce, and operate Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle capable of refueling in orbit and carrying cargo, with potential for human transport in the future. We seek a talented and experienced In-orbit Services Principal Engineer to lead the development of in-orbit services for Nyx, including proposals, studies, and upcoming proof-of-concept missions involving rendezvous, docking, and propellant transfer (storable and cryogenic). Key Responsibilities Build and lead a multidisciplinary In-orbit Services team within the Future Services division. Drive technical evolution of Nyx to provide services such as in-orbit refilling, satellite inspections, orbit maintenance, and end-of-life management. Define high-level requirements, manage technical baselines, and ensure design meets future in-orbit service needs. Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget adherence. Support business development with technical expertise for Commercial and Government teams. Collaborate with the Bid Manager on proposals, aligning technical and programmatic aspects with team and company capabilities. Qualifications Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field. Over 5 years of proven aerospace industry experience with significant technical responsibilities. Strong background in cryogenic and storable propellant systems or Guidance, Navigation, and Control systems for Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (preferably non-cooperative).
